Sizing is calculated using Manual J load calculation — it accounts for your home's square footage, ceiling height, insulation, window area, orientation, and local climate. An oversized unit short-cycles (turns on and off too frequently), wastes energy, and fails to dehumidify properly. An undersized unit runs constantly and never keeps up. We size every system correctly.

Can you replace just the outdoor unit?

Technically yes, but we strongly recommend replacing the indoor and outdoor units together. Mismatched components reduce efficiency, can void warranties, and may cause the new unit to fail prematurely. If your indoor unit is also aging, replacing both at the same time is almost always the better value.
